Belgian design company Creatix designed the Alfa Romeo Spix concept as an interpretation of what an Alfa Romeo sports car may look like in 50-100 years time.
While the Spix was labeled as a ‘flying car’ and no wheel are visible, the proportions and lines suggest that conventional wheels could quite easily be integrated into the design – without destroying the concepts overall appeal. Read the rest of this entry »

The Alfa Romeo Giullietta blends manageable size and good fuel economy with lots of utility, advanced technology and high, sporting style, crafted by one of Italy’s oldest, most revered car builders. Americans could get the opportunity to buy a Giulietta by 2012.
North America might need a bit of context regarding Alfa Romeo, to be sure. The company is an upscale division of Fiat, one of Europe’s largest automakers, but it hasn’t sold cars in the United States since 1995. The Giulietta name (pronounced like Romeo and Juliet-tah) dates back to 1955, when it was applied to a long line of small, lightweight cars noted for their agile handling. The Giulietta was a volume-produced product that moved Alfa into the mainstream with a new type of chassis known as a unitbody. Giuliettas came in Spider convertible, Sprint coupe, and Berlina sedan body styles and were rear-wheel drive. Through the 1960s, the Giulietta Spider and Sprint developed a small but fanatical following in North America for its sporty handling and racing capability. Read the rest of this entry »

The Alfa Romeo Montreal concept is a creation of Karl Sanders, a design student at Coventry University currently completing his final year.
The Montreal concept was inspired by the original Bertone styled Alfa Romeo Montreal which was introduced at the Expo 67 held in Montreal. The original car was not actually called the Montreal but due to the location of its unveiling the name stayed with the car throughout its lifetime. Read the rest of this entry »
At the 2010 Geneva Motor Show two of the largest Italian automotive design firms both unveiled concept cars to mark the 100th anniversary of Alfa Romeo. Except where Pininfarina unveiled the 2uettottanta concept – which looked just a few tweaks away from being production ready. Bertone came up with the Pandion – which looked like it came from another dimension.
It’s great to see Bertone’s back with some bold originality, because with their recent managerial and financial turmoil a more conservative design might have been more likely. Instead though they decided to dial up the craziness and channel it into an innovative concept which would turn heads and break new ground in automotive design. Read the rest of this entry »

We spotted this euro-spec Alfa Romeo 159 sedan on a flatbed traveling down I-94 in Michigan. It’s anyone’s guess what it’s doing here, but we do know that Alfa plans to bring a revised 159 (and several other models) to the U.S. beginning in 2009.
The model seen here is fitted with Alfa’s 150-hp, 1.9-liter diesel four. The car is also offered in Europe with a larger diesel as well as a choice of three direct-injected gas engines. All-wheel drive is available as well. Have a look at the images and then click below to read what we had to say about the larger Alfa 169 in our June 2008 Sneak Preview issue.

I’ve mentioned elsewhere that I thought the Fiat 500 was the hottest thing since blue Candy Floss. However I think I might have found an equal. Let’s take a look at the chic wee Alfa Romeo Mito.
Styling is almost retro, and yet quite sporty. The cute headlights look racy enough, and so does the overall low profile side on view too. Goose-step round to the rear of the vehicle, and I get very impressed by the round taillights rimmed in chrome detailing. They remind me of the very old Ford Fairlane models. I love the sport twin exhaust pipes too. Read the rest of this entry »
